Power Cut

Monday 15th March

We’re just about to get started on the day when the electricity goes off at old Badger Towers. Then the man rings up to say he’s delivering the toilet and he’s 5 miles away.  The builders are on another job, so I leap in the car and drive to… the gate. Which is now stuck shut through lack of electricity. There’s a small queue of cars, which must have been there for 20 minutes.  I walk to the front and look at the control panel, there’s a tiny set of keys fixed to the cable.  I take them and unlock the hydraulic-y things attached to the gates and we can escape the mentalhouse.

The toilet man is getting impatient but I get there eventually and we unload it into the house. It’s all wrapped so I can’t say what it looks like. A toilet, presumably.  The light is streaming into the the front of the house - something I’ve never seen since we’ve never made it in the morning before.

Off to B&Q to buy some proper sanding pads and some protection for the paint stripper.
